BRP is the resident registration route for people who will normally live in the Netherlands for more than four months. RNI is the non-resident route generally used for stays of four months or less.
RNI
- For non-residents staying four months or less
- Register at an RNI municipality desk
- You receive a BSN without resident registration
- It is not a substitute for BRP when you become a resident
Changing route
If a short stay becomes a longer residence, contact your municipality promptly. A prior RNI registration does not remove the need to register as a resident when BRP conditions apply.
